Affiliate Disclosure
The short version: I sometimes link to gear I've bought. Some of those links pay me a small commission. It doesn't change what I recommend.
Which programs
Laconian Engineering participates in the Amazon Associates Program, the B&H Photo affiliate program, and the ServerPartDeals affiliate program. When I link to a product on one of those retailers, the link may include a tracking parameter that earns this site a small commission if you buy the item.
What that means for you
Nothing, in terms of price. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your pocket. You pay exactly what you would have paid going there directly.
How I decide what to link
I only link things I've actually bought and used, or in a few cases things I've used extensively at a friend's rack and have a real opinion on. I don't accept review units in exchange for coverage, I don't take sponsored posts, and I don't link to anything I wouldn't recommend to a friend asking me the same question in person.
If I get something wrong, or a product I recommended turns out to be a mistake, I update the post and say so. The integrity of the recommendation is the whole point of running a personal site instead of another affiliate farm.
Required FTC language
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Links to other retailers on this site may also be affiliate links and may result in a small commission to Laconian Engineering if you make a purchase through them.
Questions
If something on this site looks wrong — a dead link, a product I've clearly moved on from, a recommendation that doesn't match my current stack — please tell me. This page and the posts it governs are meant to age honestly, not just accumulate.
